After a long wait that seemed to drag on forever (for a year, to be precise), Key has finally confirmed the anticipated release of Clannad, the company's third game title since taking the bishoujo gaming world by storm with Kanon (1999) and then Air (2000). Unlike Key's previous two games for the PC, Clannad, which is slated for release on 28 April, 2004, will be rated suitable for all audiences rather than for adults only.
Clannad is set in a high-school located in some Japanese town. OKAZAKI Tomoya () is a third-year student who doesn't take his studies seriously. Always late for class, he's seen as a delinquent by the rest of his classmates who are busy preparing for their entrance examinations. Needless to say, he hasn't too many close friends either.
Tomoya seems not to mind too--until he meets a few other girls from his school. Though he doesn't care much about them at first, he soon opens his heart to them as they get to know each other better.
Clannad is a romantic youth drama that's likely to be more down-to-earth than Key's other works. But like Kanon and Air, Clannad's story is expected to be another touching and heart-breaking weeper.
The game's story is centred around five main heroines, and HINOUE Itaru once again in charge of the character design. The opening song, MEGUMERU, is written by eufonius(words by riya) and performed by riya.
