MIHASHI Ren is an ace pitcher in his middle school. But because his grandfather owns the school, his peers accuse him of using his connections to become the ace in the team--in spite of Ren's ability and passion for the game. Ostracised by his teammates, Ren grows into into a quiet and obsequious adolescent.

Thinking of giving up on the game, Ren enrolls into Nishiura High School, which baseball team (former the school's softball team) is made up of rookie members and a female coach. However, when he gets coerced into taking the mound again, the boy is forced to confront not just the challenges on the field but the trials and tribulations of life off it.

Ookiku Furikabutte (meaning “raise your hands high above your head”) is based on HIGUCHI Asa's baseball manga series (winner of the Originality Award at the 10th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Awards). MIZUSHIMA Tsutomu (xxxHOLic, Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan) directs the series.
